First "Play Sand Horse" (curious Leksands horse) was made in 1948. The pattern originally comes from wallpaper, inspired by "Solomos dom" by Winter Karl Hanssin Yttermo (1777-1805). Today, this unique and elegant Dala horse is produced in Dalarna, the famous Swedish province. This is handcrafted and hand-painted in Sweden.
